About
This site is a collection of thoughts and themes that have resulted from a two-year project on “Design Collaboration as Sociotechnical Systems,” which was funded by the National Science Foundation’s Virtual Organizations as Sociotechnical Systems program. For the project, over sixty interviews were conducted with designers and design educators in four countries (United States, Spain, Canada and Australia). In particular, the project traces the role of information technology in design practices, professions and pedagogies with respect to collaboration.
